We have a fantastic opportunity for a Procurement Category Specialist to join our team on a National basis. The salary on offer is from £38,000 - £40,000 dependent on experience, with eligibility for our bonus scheme of up to 10%, and a 6% matched pension.

The purpose of this role is to ensure the most effective spend of public money across NHS PS portfolio and utilise procurement systems and methodologies to support the delivery of procurement processes. Undertaking research and gaining insights from procurement knowledge pool, the role holder will identify best practice solutions to develop innovations that support the delivery of cost improvements and benefits to customers both internal/external. They will develop good working relationships with stakeholders and suppliers, quickly building rapport and seeking support from category leads, and other category specialist & managers as required; whilst supporting the development and implementation of category plans and implement generate savings and efficiency.

You will be responsible for the end to end delivery of assigned procurement projects and or work streams, working simultaneously and across multiple customer accounts in line with the latest public procurement regulations and supporting activities by updating plans, actions, reports and risk logs. Understanding the process for conducting opportunity assessment reviews and support the delivery of these through undertaking required actions such as data analysis is key, as is preparation of PCR 2015 tender and contract documents and manage the analysis of complex returns for high value contracts.​​​​​​​

​​​​​​​The ideal candidate will have:

  • Relevant experience within a public sector procurement department
  • Excellent accuracy and the ability to interpret data and translate into action plans
  • Good interpersonal and engagement skills with the ability to build rapport with all stakeholders
  • A clear, concise communicator both oral and written with total commitment to service and delivering excellence.
  • Understanding of the added value of a professional procurement team
  • Independent and accountable and motivated by challenges
  • End to end knowledge of procurement processes
  • Proficient knowledge of PCR 2015 procurement principles
  • Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) (or willing to work towards) is desirable​​​​​​​
