​​​​​​We have a fantastic opportunity for a Finance Business Partner to join our team based in London. The salary on offer is £50,000 - £55,000 per annum dependent on experience, with eligibility for our bonus scheme of up to 10% and a 6% matched pension.

About the role:

This is a role within the Finance team based in London. The role holder will join the Corporate Finance team professionals who provide financial planning and budgeting, reporting, control, and general ledger oversight for NHS Property Services, as well as leading our Finance Shared Services, Internal audit, tax compliance, value programme and Corporate Business Partners covering business operations including DRB and energy.

Specifically, the role is part of the Corporate Business Partnering team in Corporate Finance. The role is responsible for providing financial reporting, analysis, insight, control, and budgeting support to the company’s central business operations costs (overheads). The role will also be responsible for the energy costs including utilities that feed into the direct costs that are the responsibility of the delivery function (COO Team).

The role ensures that the company’s financial results and budgets are accurately managed, understood and reported, ensuring accountability and ownership at Budget holder / Exec level. Partnering with key stakeholders in the delivery of their financial targets and supporting them to drive management action to mitigate risk and crystallise opportunities.

The role will deal with a multitude of stakeholders both in wider Finance, the business Senior management and Executive Directors and support them to achieve their strategic objectives.

You should combine excellent numeracy skills with the ability to analyse and present complex data.

We are looking for a responsible Finance Business Partner to be accountable for:

  • Delivering a high quality service of business partnering for specific directorates within the business that have overheads.
  • Responsible for delivering consistent, accurate and timely high quality financial reporting alongside analysis, review of performance and investigation for overhead costs to all budget holders within the company’s overheads.
  • Meets regularly with senior stakeholders to articulate the financial position in a clear manner with focus on risks and opportunities impacting long term strategic objectives. Drive appropriate management action with regard to financial management to deliver targets for NHSPS.
  • Promote best practice behaviours for accountability and ownership of financial budget management to all stakeholders. Promote a self-service environment, raising awareness of financial management tools available and supporting development needs amongst budget holders.
  • Together, with the wider finance teams, maintain and monitor the accuracy and integrity of the management accounting information being produced. Including ensuring robust controls are designed and implemented to improve processes and efficiency.
  • Works closely with the budget holders and Corporate Finance teams to deliver annual budget and forecasting processes ensuring it is clearly owned and understood by the budget holder, including Value targets.
  • Works closely with the value team to ensure driving value savings logged through the value trackers are being delivered through the financials.
  • Ownership of key inputs and assumptions into the energy models
  • Matrix management of the direct costs, including working closely with colleagues in shared services to ensure a joined up end to end service
  • Supporting Head of Energy and Environment in both commercial awareness and challenge e.g. the brokering of energy
  • Adhoc support to the Direct of Responsible Business
  • Other Business partnering activities as required by the team


What you will bring to the role:

  • Part-qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent including experience.
  • Recognised Finance professional qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) including relevant post qualification experience
  • Ideally qualifications via training in large corporate environment or professional services firm.
  • Good understanding of corporate management accounting, reporting of overheads and business partnering responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of core financial controls within a large organisation.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Dynamics NAV and Power Query / Power BI reporting
  • Has experience in dealing with a variety of different stakeholders from differing backgrounds.
  • Management Accounting and Business Partnering – enough to be able to work independently and with confidence with key stakeholders and Executives
  • Has knowledge of the overhead cost types within NHSPS or similar company.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to communicate to people at all levels of the organisation
  • Well organised and plans – anticipates needs of stakeholder due to the nature of their area
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to present financial information to non-finance colleagues
  • Ability to articulate risks and challenge others to ensure the right outcome.
  • Problem solving and root cause identification skills
