Job Description

We have a fantastic opportunity for a PMCOE Analyst to join our team working remotely with the occasional office day based in London with a salary up to £52,000 on a 12 month fixed term contract. 

About the role:

The purpose of this role is to support the PMCOE in delivering the required Project Management Assurance structure to the business, as part of the team’s focus on providing a robust best practice Project Management framework to deliver the expected value and outcomes from the Strategy Action Plan (SAP) (NHSPS internal project portfolio). The Project Management Centre of Excellence provides a pivotal role in ensuring strategic alignment between business needs and industry good practice to ensure organisational outcomes.

Working with the PMCOE Senior Manager for SAP Assurance, the role requires a person that is comfortable in engaging with project and programme managers, other programme team members and senior stakeholders and will have experience of analysing, interpreting, and presenting data and information using various applications such as MS Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI and SharePoint.

A key element of the role will be to support the development of the multi-year SAP budget ensuring the rigour in our project and programme investment and business cases for Executive decision making, whilst making sure that projects deliver against the approved budgets and expected outcomes.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Support the SAP multi-year budget development, including investment cases and business cases, aligned to organisational best practice.
  • Work with business partners and SAP project managers to review monthly actuals, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Support the process to ensure that the overall Central project budget is aligned to project Investment cases.
  • Assist the process for ensuring outcomes on benefits across the SAP are aligned to investment cases, working with delivery areas, and providing insight that VT targets are being met.
  • Coordinate independent progress reviews (PIRs) of SAP Strategic Programmes to ensure they are on track and manage mitigating actions as required.
  • Lead the coordination and management of quarterly deep dives for SAP delivery assurance and reviews of red projects & programmes to make improvement recommendations and track appropriate mitigations.
  • Support the continuous improvement of the Project delivery lifecycle best practice and tool kit.
  • Coordinate recommendations from project lessons learnt process to improve assurance, best practice, and outcomes.
  • Support recommendations to drive Project Management maturity assessment and coordinate evidence.

What you bring to the role:

  • Two years plus of project experience
  • Financial and budget management experience
  • Financial control
  • Experience of Investment and business case development
  • Experience of benefits delivery, tracking and outcome management
  • Experience of working on projects and/or PMOs
  • Experience of working with a range of project management methodologies
  • Experience of working and engaging with senior stakeholder
  • Experience of using PowerBI
  • Able to influence to achieve a positive outcome
