As we continue to strengthen our environmental governance and compliance across the estate, we are looking for a proactive, knowledgeable, and highly motivated Environmental Advisor. In this role, you will help ensure we meet our environmental obligations, minimise environmental impact, and embed best practice across our operations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about environmental standards, confident conducting audits, and skilled at supporting teams to understand and meet compliance expectations. You will play a key part in shaping how we deliver environmental improvement across the business, ensuring we operate responsibly, sustainably, and in line with all relevant legislation.


About the Role

As an Environmental Advisor, you will support the delivery of environmental compliance across the organisation. You’ll help ensure adherence to environmental regulations, conduct audits and assessments, and provide expert guidance to colleagues at all levels. Working as part of the Environment focus area within the wider Energy & Environment team, you will contribute to the development of environmental policies, strategies, and processes that reduce risk and drive continuous improvement. You will collaborate closely with operational teams, regulatory bodies, and external partners to ensure our estate meets required standards. This role requires strong technical understanding, excellent communication skills, and the ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical, actionable solutions.


Who You Are

You are an environmentally focused professional with a solid understanding of environmental legislation, compliance requirements, and best practice. You’re confident at communicating environmental agendas, advising colleagues, and supporting the development of environmental compliance strategies. Your detail‑driven, proactive, and passionate about helping organisations reduce their environmental impact. You enjoy working collaboratively, influencing positive change, and supporting others to meet compliance expectations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the organisation complies with all relevant environmental legislation, regulations, and standards.
  • Develop environmental audit questions, inspections, and assessments to evaluate compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Monitor and assess the environmental impact of organisational activities, providing recommendations for mitigation and improvement.
  • Develop and implement environmental policies, procedures, and guidance documents.
  • Support the creation and delivery of strategies to minimise environmental impact, including carbon reduction initiatives.
  • Provide training, advice, and guidance to colleagues on environmental compliance and best practice.
  • Collaborate with regulatory agencies to secure necessary permits and approvals.
  • Support the development and implementation of environmental improvement plans.
  • Contribute to environmental reporting requirements and performance monitoring.

Where you’ll be

This is a hybrid position, based from your local hub, and will be offered as a 24‑month contract.
