Job Description

At NHS Property Services, we believe our people are our greatest asset. That’s why we’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued, supported, and empowered to thrive. Our People Strategy - Get, Grow, and Keep Great People, is all about building a values-driven culture where colleagues and customers are at the heart of everything we do.

We’re looking for an Enterprise Architect to shape the future of NHS Property Services’ digital and data landscape. In this strategic and influential role, you’ll define the vision, strategy and governance of our Enterprise Architecture, helping us modernise systems, improve data flow, align technology to business goals, and support the delivery of safe, effective services across the NHS estate.

You’ll translate organisational strategy into actionable architectures and roadmaps, guiding how our business, data, application and technology domains evolve. Acting as a trusted advisor, you’ll simplify complexity, influence senior leaders, and help colleagues make informed decisions that protect value, reduce risk and enable long‑term transformation.

This is an opportunity to use your expertise to make a meaningful impact, helping us build a secure, scalable, and future‑ready technology environment that empowers colleagues and ultimately supports patient care.

Who you are

You’re an experienced Enterprise Architect who can work confidently across business, data, application and technology domains. You translate complex ideas into clear, accessible language and build strong, collaborative relationships across teams. You think strategically while staying grounded in practical constraints, and you’re comfortable using architecture standards and patterns to drive secure, compliant and value‑for‑money solutions. You’re curious about emerging technologies, proactive in exploring new possibilities, and you role‑model NHSPS values by being collaborative, adaptable, accountable and committed to great service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain enterprise architecture models spanning business, data, application and technology domains to support strategic clarity and evidence‑based decision‑making.
  • Create and evolve technology roadmaps that align with business goals and articulate the changes needed across teams and systems.
  • Establish and govern architecture principles, standards and patterns, ensuring alignment across projects and platforms.
  • Lead and run architecture boards and governance forums, promoting inclusive and transparent decision‑making.
  • Audit and assure architectural integrity, ensuring that documentation and models accurately reflect as‑is, to‑be and transitional states.
  • Translate business needs into scalable, cost‑effective and strategic technology designs, working closely with Digital & Data, operations, and suppliers.
  • Provide expert guidance on solution options, advising on cost, risk, timelines and strategic implications for senior leadership.
  • Curate and evolve the enterprise architecture landscape, ensuring coherence across systems, data flows and integration points.
  • Maintain architecture tooling and repositories, ensuring documentation is accessible, governed and used effectively to support change.

Where you’ll be

This is a hybrid role with travel to our Canary Wharf when required.

What we can offer you

We understand how important life is outside of work so, as well as a competitive salary we will also offer:

  • 27 days annual leave + 8 days bank holiday with the option to buy additional weeks leave.
  • A Smarter Working Policy, empowering you to choose the location of how and where you work according to your daily activities.
  • Training and development opportunities, providing opportunities for our colleagues to develop and progress their careers at all levels through our Professional Excellence Framework.
  • SMART Pension contribution into which the company will contribute up to 6%
  • A range of flexible benefits, including NHS retail discounts and Cycle to Work Scheme.
  • We have a great Colleague Assistance Programme and offer support for all areas of life.

An organisation with a purpose…

We are an organisation with a passion for giving back. Putting money back into the NHS, raising £150,000 over 3 years for our charity partner Young Lives vs Cancer, supporting colleagues to volunteer within their local communities, and being committed to creating a sustainable working environment on our pledge to become net zero carbon by 2050. We understand that it’s important to feel like the work you do is having a meaningful impact on society, and through our approach to being a responsible business, we make sure that every colleague is given the opportunity to make a difference.

At NHS Property Services, we’re committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive. We welcome applications from disabled people and will make reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process and in the workplace to support your needs. If you require any support or adjustments, please let us know — we’re here to help

We celebrate diversity, and we are working hard to create an inclusive environment where people love to work and can fulfil their potential.

We would encourage all applicants to apply as soon as possible as we may close vacancies early should we receive a high number of applications.
