We’re looking for a skilled Network Engineer to join our Infrastructure team, responsible for the stability, deployment, and lifecycle support of our Core Network and related platforms.
In this role, you’ll oversee both project and operational network activities, guiding the design, development, and implementation of network solutions. You’ll play a key part in ensuring our systems remain secure, efficient, and aligned with business needs.
You’ll report to the Operational Infrastructure, Core Network and EUC Manager, and collaborate closely with teams across Cyber Security, Colleague Support, Product, Engineering, Site Support, and Architecture.
Who you are
You’re a technically adept and solutions-focused Network Engineer with a deep understanding of core networking principles and a passion for building stable, secure infrastructure. You thrive in environments where collaboration and cross-functional teamwork are key, and you’re confident navigating both project delivery and day-to-day operational support.
Key responsibilities:
- Support and maintain Azure Cloud Networking components Including ExpressRoute, VPN Gateways, Vnets, Network Security Groups, Azure Firewall, and hub-and-spoke topologies within Azure Landing Zones.
- Manage and maintain physical networking infrastructure Across the NHS Property Services estate, ensuring reliable connectivity and performance.
- Lead and resolve connectivity-based outages Act as the escalation point for network disruptions, coordinating with third-party vendors to restore service swiftly.
- Respond to network security incidents Collaborate with Cyber Security teams to investigate, resolve, and prevent future threats.
- Perform proactive maintenance and upgrades Regularly update firmware and software on network equipment (e.g. Meraki, Cisco, Barracuda), and implement improvements to enhance stability and performance.
- Conduct firewall reviews and optimisations Maintain Barracuda and Azure Firewall configurations, removing outdated rules and enhancing security posture.
- Champion secure access solutions Manage 802.1x certificate-based Wi-Fi and Azure Global Secure Access (GSA) VPN configurations to ensure secure, segmented access.
- Document and diagram network architecture Own the creation and maintenance of accurate network documentation, including topologies and dependencies, to support transparency and operational efficiency.
Where you’ll be
We have a hybrid model, there will be travel across the Midlands area weekly with this specific role and this role requires regular presence in our London office.
