We have a fantastic opportunity for Procurement Category Specialist to join the Delivery & Advisory team. Within this opportunity you'll be developing good working relationships with stakeholders and suppliers, quickly building rapport and seeking support from category leads, and other category specialist & managers as required. Core function will be providing end to end delivery of assigned procurement projects and or work streams. Working simultaneously and across multiple customer accounts in line with the latest public procurement regulations . We're offering up to £45,000 DOE, along with flexible hybrid working and 10% annual bonus. 

About the role: 

The role will report into the Category Lead - Delivery & Advisory, you'll be responsible for ensuring the most effective spend of public money across NHS PS portfolio. Utilising procurement systems and methodologies to support the delivery of procurement processes, also undertaking research and gain insights from procurement knowledge pool to identify best practice solutions to develop innovations that support the delivery of cost improvements and benefits to customers both internal/external. You'll get to work closely with members of the team and key stakeholders to assist and investigate the causes of any variance from plan/delivery targets and contribute to the implementation of solutions.


You Will : 

  • Understand the process for conducting opportunity assessment reviews and support the delivery of these through undertaking required actions such as data analysis.
  • Responsible for external publication of completed tenders and internal correspondence to stakeholders and wider departments
  • Negotiate on contractual issues within area of responsibility; communicate statutory financial and procurement regulations to non-procurement people.
  • Identification and delivery of saving initiatives across areas of project responsibility. In case of any variance from plan or delivery targets, work with members of the team and key stakeholders to investigate the causes and contribute to the implementation of solutions.
  • Ensure stakeholders satisfaction and provide support during the life of the contract when necessary and anticipate on procurement and contract renewal
  • Prepare PCR 2015 tender and contract documents and manage the analysis of complex returns for high value contracts.
  • Authorise new contracts and purchase orders within area of responsibility.


What you will bring to the role:

  • Demonstratable experience of assisting procurement projects or tactical sourcing activities (applicants will be considered with both public and private experience)
  • Experience of developing positive, initiative-taking relationships with stakeholders
  • Ability to negotiate with external and internal customers
  • Good interpersonal and engagement skills with the ability to build rapport with all stakeholders
  • End to end knowledge of best practice procurement processes
  • Ability to draft well thought out Category Strategies using data and market intelligence
  • Understanding of the added value of a professional procurement team
